The pursuit of the purest color

Giovanni Lombardini is a painter who works on the power of colour with a special technique that he has perfected over the years. The search for the purest colour is a vocation at Florilège as well. We find it in the use of particular and often unusual gemstones for the world of jewellery and in exploring the most original colour combinations so we can create jewellery that excites and evokes the infinite range of shades of nature.

Homage
to Lombardini

It was Florilège’s desire to pay homage to Lombardini with a series of jewels, one which came from personal knowledge of the artist. The creative challenge was to find stones in nature that could recreate the suggestion of his chromatic exploration. To do so, we chose the ancient technique of Florentine commesso, invented by Lorenzo the Magnificent, a special type of craftsmanship which allows fascinating and complex combinations of stones owing to the work of artisans who are experts in cutting.

With this collection, some of the painter’s best-known paintings have become a series of rings and pendants. This is how ‘Homage to Lombardini’ was created – a celebration of his long artistic career and a tribute to his sensibility as a painter.
